I sent out my letter asking Cuban people to omit from the “Himno de Bayamo” the words of hatred to Spain, and I received many beautiful letters in answer. During the excursion of Cuban Teachers to Harvard University (1900) I translated the Hymn (see copies in my files) and had the words and music printed, sending out many thousand copies.
