27th of June, I first met Teresa Arruebarrena, as she came aboard the transport “Sedgewick,” lying off Cardenas, Cuba, taking on teachers to go to Harvard University. She was met at the at the head of the gangplank by myself and Teresa Menocal, of Havana, who introduced me. As she turned away to find a place on the transport, I said to Teresa Menocal, “That is the girl I shall marry,” and I did.
