Diary of Alexis Frye

October 17

1899

Reported to Gen’l Brooke that proposed school law for Cuba had little else than embroidery and catechism for girls, and that it had logarithms for 4th year in primary schools, etc. Gen’l Brooke gave me a card to Sr. J.A. Gonzalez Lanuza, Sec’y of Education, saying: “Mr. Sec’y Lanuza: Will you be kind enough to consider Professor Frye in the light of my representative in the discussion of the school question.” – See Cuban Scrapbook A, p. 4.
